If you get caught and have many toys in the huge basket, he'll take out some of them and hide them again as punishment. While you can go into specific hiding places and wait for him to go away or go onto higher ground, getting caught sends you back to the start, along with the toy(s) in your inventory being sent back to their original spots or put into a different hiding place. Instead of the Neighbor, the one on the hunt is the brother, and somehow they made his AI even more annoying to deal with. But stuff that plagued Hello Neighbor is still intact, like clucky and floaty platforming, frustrating and unpredictable item physics, controls that just don't feel right the prequel even has a couple of things that are even worse. To be fair, there are improvements like puzzles that make sense, open level design that can be interesting to explore. There isn't much to it, and while there might be stuff that I might've missed (like the daughter and crows thing), I was left unimpressed.Īnd it's the same with the gameplay, I'm not impressed. You play the levels, stuff happens, and that's it. to be honest, I can't really say much about the story, since there really isn't much of a story here. Hide and Seek is about the Neighbor's family, with the biggest focus being his daughter and son, who go into their imagination and play. I bought it here so I can review it, so how well does it hold up? I thought it was better, but still bad.īut that was a while ago, and I now picked it on sale on Steam for five dollars. So that's why I was interested in Hide and Seek, see if they fixed the many issues the first game had, so I got that on PS4 as well (but not when it released). The only good things were the concept and the artstyle. was terrible and the whole game felt unpolished. The story, controls, physics, puzzles, platforming, the AI itself, etc. Hello Neighbor is one of the worst games I've ever played, so close on being *the* worst game I've played if Agony didn't exist. And No Time To Explain was much more worth the buck than Hello Neighbor. I preordered it, and got the game when it was released and No Time To Explain which was bundled. When Hello Neighbor was going to be released for the PS4, I was interested. You can try similar games like Galaxy: Survivor or Dead by Daylight, which are built on the same concept.A Prequel That Doesn't Do Enough To Be Worth Your Time This game offers a deeper sense of mystery, but that alone will not suffice in terms of RPG satisfaction. Additionally, it is available on Apple products, the Nintendo Switch, Xbox 1, PS 4, and computers using a Windows OS. You can play this title on Android devices. Though the effect may feel somewhat diminished due to how bright the game is. The endgame might shock you and is quite worth all the head-scratching effort to get there. You’ll run into a lot of surprises through the twists and turns of the story. Try to catch as many metaphors and hidden meanings in the game as you can. As you explore and unravel secrets, you’ll also unlock cutscenes and short movies that explain the story. Once you’ve found momentum and complete the first act, things become incredibly dark. The story may seem a little confusing in the beginning as you’re provided with no directions. People can experience great suspense while playing. You won’t have to fear taking the wrong turns or missing alternative endings. The good thing is the endgame is quite linear, i.e. Depending on your playstyle preference, not knowing what you’re supposed to do can be intriguing or super annoying. There aren’t any tutorials or quests, so players need to figure everything out on their own. You won’t see automatic popped up options like most RPG mobile games so it can slow down gameplay. The controls are simple enough, but you would need to switch between actions to interact with objects. Hello Neighbor puts you in a neighborhood after a mini cutscene, and you’ll begin solving mysteries right there. Explore your neighbor’s house through an intriguing storyline. RPG players who like a little bit of mystery and suspense while playing will need to give Hello Neighbor a try.
